Update Your Blog Already!

I know, I am such a loser. I loved blogging, but haven’t had the time to devote to it lately. Plus, I’ve been really depressed and unhappy lately, and who wants to write all their pain down the world to see? I don’t even want to read it, so I’m sure no one else would. But I have a lot to say about all sorts of things, so I am going to spend the next two days catching up of all sorts of random thoughts throughout the day. So stayed tuned…it’s about to get more interesting.

The Man in My Life

My newphew, Evan is now 18 months old and thriving. He had a check up today and while he didn’t like the doctor, he did get a good report. He is above the 90th percentile for height and weight. He weights 31.5 lbs. He has a 2+ vocabulary and is very talkative. He’s in his parrot stage right now, repeating whatever you say. His loves trucks, cars and motorcycles and anything that has an engine or makes noise. He gets more adorable every day. I am still amazed when I look at him. God is truly a miracle-maker. Who would have ever thought I’d be an aunt?? We are so blessed to have Evan and I will never forget the way God brought him to us.

Reading Update

I have been doing more reading this summer than I’ve had a chance to do in the beginning of the year. Of course, the big read was Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I went to the release party at Barnes & Noble with some friends and had a great evening. Then I spend the next week reading the book. I had so much going on that weekend, I didn’t get to start it until Monday. I finished it up on Saturday and cried my way through the last few chapters. Although it was sad, I did like the ending. It really set up the final book and left me with such a great anticipation for the story to come together. I have no idea how she is going to tie up all the lose ends in one book.
I have purchased quite a few books lately but haven’t read many of them yet. I have quite a collection of non-fiction to read, but haven’t much been in the mood for it. I am hoping to get back on track with that soon as I’m only going to get farther and farther behind.
It took me most of the summer to read “Confessions of a Prayer Wimp” by Mary Pierce. It was a funny book with some good lessons but I had little time to read it so it took me awhile to finish. I’m currently writing a review of the book for the Flourish Newsletter.
I read through all the Troubleshooters books this summer. With the new book out, I had this powerful urge to go back and read from the beginning. Now I have 18 months to wait for the next one.
Now that I had to punch out for dinner break at work each night I am getting more time to read. I hope to use that time to catch up on a few of these to-be-read stacks.

Happy Chocolate Flick

I haven’t seen too many movies this summer. In fact, I’ve only seen two. But one of them I saw twice. It was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It was such a fun, fun movie. I am a big fan of Johnny Depp and was delighted to hear he would be playing Mr. Wonka. He was brilliant as always, and I give this movie my highest reccommendation. The kids were amazing, the story was funny, the Ompa-Loompa’s were hysterical and the music was great! Some of my favorite parts were the puppet show at the start of the tour and the scene when the children try to introduce themselves to Willy Wonka. I also loved the thing with the business card. I’d love to do that sometime. :-)

The other movie I saw this summer was “Mr and Mrs Smith.” That was another fun movie as well. The stars had an amazing chemistry and worked well together. (A little too well, apparently) But the movie was fun and action packed, and was another winner for me.

I wanted to see the Star Wars Movie, Must Love Dogs, Kingdom of Heaven, Batman Returns, and Monster-In-Law. That apparently, didn’t happen.

There are quite a few DVD’s coming out soon I’m hoping to snag.
August 30 - Sahara, The Librarian: Quest for the Spear
Sept. 6 - Lost: Season One
Sept. 27 - Gilmore Girls: Season Four
October ?? - Arrested Development: Season Two

Anyone seen any good movies lately?
